Birthdays on the 31st December
Everyone says 31st December (and 1st Jan) babies are lucky because they get fireworks, massive people celebrating together. Get to walk on the streets, enjoy the countdowns.
It’s seriously enjoying - sometimes if the countdown was great, but I didn’t realize until now that I miss something special. I never got to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends on that day.
I never had the chance to have a birthday party (on the day itself) where I could have dinner, booze and close friends hanging around. A surprise party would be even better. ^_^
Last year Grace (30th) and I celebrated together at TGIF around a week before ours came. It was different from other birthdays I had. I never celebrated my birthday in advanced before, so it was my first.
Then “Hey! That’s a good idea isn’t it? Celebrate early and celebrate again on the actual day”. It is a good idea.
In 2003 and 2004 I celebrated in KL. Dad got us a room for both years at Melia Hotel, opposite Berjaya Times Square. Celebrated countdown and stayed in KL. 2003 was only with the family, in 2004 was with family and friends from Jalan Ipoh. 2004 was better of course.
2005, was single that time, so I think I celebrated at Raintree, a bowling tournament if I’m not mistaken. Nothing special.
2006, New Year Celebration Dinner at Raintree. Boring. Period. Paid RM50 for dinner and watching old ladies dancing. I made my own entertainment in the end.
For this year, I still have no plans yet. Grace wanted to do something together, however her parents aren’t so keen.
21st birthday it seems. Legal age for everything.
But everyone seems to be busy on that day. Sigh.
